Chic Happens

Hello everyone!

This is the second installment of the January series "2014 Mix Up." This post was originally planned for November's theme "Mad For Plaid."

I ordered this skirt during Jibri's annual Black Friday sale. I immediately loved this plaid skirt and wanted to wear it ASAP. But during the month of December I was collaborating with a few fabulous bloggers to create our Christmas Lookbook series.  It turned out great! Btw!

I loved the idea of dressing the plaid skirt down with a statement tee but turning it back up with a faux leather jacket and booties. The outfit didn't need much so I added simple accessories so that the main focus could be the skirt.

Style Note: I love this skirt, the material is amazing. I received a quick response after giving Jibri my measurements. I am wearing a size 1.

Blue Neon

Hello everyone!

This is the first installment of the January series "2014 Mix Up." I will be taking a few extra outfits that were planned for 2014 and post them. This post was originally planned for May's "Plus in Blue" series.

I actually found this dress at my local JCPenney's on the clearance rack.  I passed the dress on a previous shopping trip, because I was conscious of my knees, but I have gotten over that! The dress was marked down to $19.97 but with a coupon it was $14.97.

I paired the dress with my comfy booties, tights, and gold necklace.

One Year Blogiversary

Hi everyone!

January 9th marks my one year blogiversary!

When I decided to start my blog, I quickly became both eager and nausea. I have always loved my curves and never struggled with self-acceptance. I was never teased about my weight, if anything I was accepted because of my full curvy figure. Maybe that's a southern thing.

I was nervous that people wouldn't understand my style, I felt like I didn't fit into a specific "category."
I quickly found out the best category was just being myself. I love textures, prints, vintage, and feminine silhouettes. I didn't realize this into I noticed a trend in my blogging, I grasped that concept and immediately started monthly themes. The themes quickly helped me become organized, which elevated frivolous spending and unplanned blogging.

Over the past year I have grown to appreciate some of my favorite bloggers. It's not just picking out cute outfits. You have to be the stylist, the model, the writer,  and editor. I really appreciate my friend, Grashunda for encouraging me. When I told her I wanted to start blogging she quickly convinced me to hit the ground running, and even did my make up and hair until I could get things together. I really appreciate my mom for being my consistent photographer, my sister and boyfriend also wore the photographer hat and made me feel comfortable.

My first year of blogging has been amazing. Looking forward to many more!!!
