The Misconceptions Of A Runway Model

Hey curvies!!!!

I am here to talk to you all about my experience and training that led up to "The Weight Is Over Fashion Show - Socialite Edition" this year. I enjoyed my exprience and felt like a real model struting down the runway. Not to mention my hair and makeup was on point thanks to the lovely ladies of The Institute of Beauty and Sand the Artist.

First I would love to thank Ashley of Dean of Fashion and the Creator of The Weight Is Over Fashion Show for arranging for Zii, model and makeup artist, to work with myself and the other models on runway training. I am so suprised so much work goes into walking a runway. Which also led to acknowleding a lot of misconceptions. I honestly thought that being a runway model was EASY!!! I thought that models simply had to walk the runway, pose, and take a break between scenes.

Being a runway model is not easy. It is hard work. I remember coming home after practice trying to figure out "what did I get myself into???" My poor feet, arms, and lower back ached badly.  Also, I didn't realize how bad my regular walk was until Zii pointed it out lol

Runway models do not simply walk down the runway. There's nothing simple about walking down the runway. I literally had to gather my confidence and fear of falling to muster up the courage to get down the runway all while "acknowleding the audience." It was so comforting seeing familiar faces in the crowd.

Posing is not easy either! I remember trying to make my body pose the proper way that Zii taught me, but my body wouldn't do what my mind told it to do. If that makes sense!? I did have a couple of good poses on the runway thank goodness! Did I mention you had to pose for the crowd and the photographer?!

There are no real breaks between scenes. I will admit that I surprised myself with getting dressed so fast, but I made it happen. Between scenes I was getting ready for the next scene.

Overall, I did enjoy my experience. I still can't believe I was in a RUNWAY FASHION SHOW!!!

Celebrating National Women’s Health and Fitness Day

Hey curvies!!!

Today is National Women’s Health and Fitness Day!!! From this day forward National Women’s Health and Fitness Day will always be on the last Wednesday of September. "This day focuses attention on the importance of regular physical activity and health awareness for women," you can get more information here.

Now if you're being active chances are you will need workout gear. I personally love coordinates when working out. Guess who has a new active line??? Adore Me. I loved that Adore Me added plus sizes to their lingerie, bra and panty lines. Their new active wear is no different. The size range is pretty cool including sizes 0x-4x, which is equivalent to sizes 12-28. Yay!!! The sports bra and bottom sets range from $49.95-59.95. Use promo code GETACTIVE10 to receive 10% off your purchase.

My plan is to try the plus size workout gear out to give you all some honest style notes and sizing information. Stay tuned!

Send Me Neutrals: Hot Chocolate

Hey curvies!!!!

This is the second installment of a four part series "Send Me Neutrals." The whole purpose of this series is to incorporate Fall fashions and color schemes into this Memphis heat.

This dress is super simple, yet sexy. Over the years I kinda shyed away from bodycons unless I had a really big bag to cover my belly. BUT recently my love for them has returned. I remember being ashamed of my belly line and seeing it despite wearing shapewear. Now don't get me wrong my shapewear complimented this look, but I feel like I am becoming more and more comfortable in my own skin. Hey year 27!!!

Now back to the fashion! The stretch is amazing and I could only think of one shoe to pair it with...Leopard. This dress dress with my favorite leopard shoes are an instant love affair. They paired well with my camo jacket and the icing on the cake was my new my tassle purse.

Style Notes: This dress is true to size and I am wearing a 2x. It has plenty of stretch to help with a comfortable fit but it is light in weight and on the thin side of fabric. This jacket is also true to size and I am wearing a size 2x.

*This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine.*

Hey curvies!!!!

Last time I told you all about how using Groupon came in handy when considering Invisalign. Well let’s talk about using Groupons for coupons. Yesss! Groupon Coupons is a real thing and a super helpful tool!!!

As a very serious shopper (borderline addict) I find that getting the most bang for my buck is very rewarding. I toggle between sites to make sure that I am getting the best deal, like it’s a sport. Using Groupon Coupons is so helpful because all of these cool site coupons are in one location with up to date deals.

Not only does Groupon Coupons have an array of coupons, but the variety of sites that have coupons is just as diverse. Before checking Groupon Coupons I thought about the sites that I frequent and I immediately thought about Macy's. Macy’s always have awesome coupons and not having to search is even better. I also thought about Ali Express, because they have so many fun sling handbags and statement necklaces. How cool is that?! Having all of your favorite stores coupons in one spot!

It's Raining Savings with Groupon

*This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine.*

Hey curvies!!!!

A couple of weeks ago I went to the dentist and I remember seeing information on braces and Invisalign. I immediately thought that braces are cool, but look too painful. Not to mention the cost would quickly add up. Then I thought about Invisalign and though the costs is significantly lower it’s still pretty high. I thought to myself “you’ve had these teeth this long, you’ll be fine.” Then I had an AH HA Moment!

Groupon! Groupon is the place to search before paying retail for anything. Groupon offers amazing deals on just about anything you can think of that’s available in your area. While browsing the Health, Beauty & Wellness Groupons I found Invisalign!!! I never thought to search Groupon!!! One offer is actually more than half off!!! The deal includes the Orthodontic evaluation, at-home dental-impression kit ($95 value), 3D custom treatment plan ($300 value), and an additional $100 off an aligner treatment (if the customer qualifies as a candidate, the full treatment costs a flat rate of $1,400 after discount). The package is also reviewed by board-certified, state-licensed dentists or orthodontists. How cool is that?! While on the site I also saw a lot of teeth whitening kits at a fraction of the costs.

Remember to check out Groupon for your next Health, Beauty & Wellness service. The savings will rain down on you! Happy shopping!

True Blue featuring GSLove Part III

Hey curvies!!!!

This is the final installment of three for the series "True Blue featuring GSLove." This series will include ways to style blue outfits in the spirit of being a University of Memphis Alumnus! Go Tigers!!!

This outfit is very special for me, because I combined two outfits the Rose Print Ankle Tube Dress and the Long Stripe Vest & Straight Pants Set. I made the dress a skirt to add length and I took the vest from the set to add a pattern. This had to be my favorite look, because I love mixing prints. I completed this look by adding a simple tank and black sandals.

Style Notes: Rose Print Ankle Tube dress is a size 3x, I could have gotten a 2x because it is true to size. The pants set is in a 3x. The pants were a little tight so I opted to add the vest to create this look.
